Exactly. Fine-tuning ratings just makes it so much easier to accurately describe how you feel about the music. Unfortunately, us plebs have to stick with the normal ratings

Maybe one day everyone will be able to.

Sputnik needs to start evolving again.
|
| |
How long has it been since Sputnik has had a major update?
|

Album Rating: 3.5
Depends on what you consider to be major. They changed the review layout and tracklisting not even two years ago.
|
| |
Layout isnt as big as having new features and such. I forgot though, that update was actually really nice and forgot how it used to be at this point.
|

I've only been here for a little over three months, so I have no memory of what the site used to look like, but it's pretty cool to see how the site changed with the "way back machine" on web.archive.org.

I actually preferred the old layout lol. I despise having to click a button to see the track list, not to mention that it f's everything up if I'm on mobile.
The newest feature that I'm really digging is the ability to embed soundcloud/bandcamp song streams into reviews...gives people something to listen to while reading. But that's once again a staff thing...so yeah maybe it's time for a few extra userbase perks.
|
| |
You can't fault Jom, Dev, or the other mods for the stagnancy, though, because even if they weren't busy keeping the site running and cleaning up stupid bullshit, I think that I read once that they don't have the power to add new features and whatnot without having mx himself intervene.
|
| |
Nooo sowing, don't go back into hibernation.
On the community threads, there are loads of request for things that are out of any od the med's hands, like adding new sub genre tags, which only MX can do. I'm sure dev has a list of things he's going to address MX with once hen has some spare time. I quite miss the med reviews too, but I'm guessing they're a bit too busy for that now
|
| |
And as I post that, Jom posts his first review in like half a year

Yeah mx is the only one who can make site-changing decisions. The mods keep going what we have and deal with a ton of shit, but new features are for the most part out of their hands.
|
| |
@Choccy Yeah, I miss 'em too. Chan was the most interesting, Willie was the most professional, Dev was the most eloquent, and Jom is just Jom.
@Sowing Yeah, the mods can only do so much without the big man himself stepping in. Shame, it is.

Yeah they're all good in different ways. I miss Chan's reviews more than anything...Willie isn't around as much as he used to be. Jom and Deviant are both most present from what I've seen.
|
| |
I love chan's polarising opinions and how basically no one would ever shit on him on the thread because it's chan.
I'm very grateful for the site, but I do feel it needs a bit of maintenance every now and then
|

@EO
You've been here only 3 months?
Damn, I've been since October and I feel like a complete pleb compared to you
|
| |
@Choccy Agreed.
@Sowing Yeah, I wish they were here more.
@emester Lol, don't. I just became really interested in music really quickly.
