"I know people don't like re-recordings, but this could definitely use one." 100% agreed, I think it's actually a really fun album besides the production and vocals. Re-unite was really cool, but a studio recording would kill.
"Maybe it would even remind the band that they use to make actual songs..." As in not wank-fests last 10+ minutes? As in the latest self-titled release? :P I actually missed some of the craziness on that album though tbh. I hope their follow is more proggy.

The soloing sure is less bland here than with most solos post-Train of Thought, but they just needed a vocalist that could compete with Midnight, John Arch, Ray Alder, and Geoff Tate in order to make this album really stand out.

Nice review GB. I kind of like this album in a guilty pleasure sense.

There are extended songs on here, but all the instrumental sections seem to fit the songs more than some of the later stuff. Especially the Jordan-era stuff.

Ah, it's a shame production on here sucks so much. If you manage to ignore Dominici's shrieking voice the music is pretty awesome. Never knew how to rate it properly...
