I don't really get the hate for the longer ambient parts in between the moments of magic. That's what this album is meant to be - a long journey throughout the infinite realms of space. You're not just nipping off to Jupiter for a 4-pack and a bag of doritos; you're slowly gliding past cold, dead worlds and then it's simply nothingness for thousands of light-years before you glimpse another speck of light in the distance.

I listen to this album when I revise or when I have time to just sit down and do nothing, and it serves it's purpose so well. Midnight Odyssey do not do short albums, so expecting 2 hours 20 minutes (I think?) of constant perfection is contrary to the philosophy of the band, as it would have to change-up its style constantly.

Though it's ridiculously long for one album, it's just perfect for late night walks. The second disc is stronger than the first, but the first disc has the best track, "Hunter of the Celestial Sea".

every time i feel i'm on the cusp of absolutely loving this something pulls me right out of it. 'from a frozen wasteland' is honestly breathtaking, genius in terms of both texture, melody and structure, but i completely lose interest after this point

Just really in the mood for hugely atmospheric bm. This seems like an ideal choice.

You guys might be interested in this. It's a darkwave/synthpop project from this guy. Shorter songs, not metal at all and not too bad to be honest.

The part starting at 12:30 in Darker Skies Once Radiant is on of the best mix of epic melodies I've heard in a while. This album sure as fuck has its moments although it's longer than John Holmes shlong which makes it pretty damn daunting. Very enjoyable nonetheless and will definitely spin this behemoth of an album again when the time is right.
