Shades of a Lost Moon is the only Draconian that I've checked as a whole and liked. The bits and pieces from other albums haven't impressed me much though.

Sure. "Arcane Rain Fell" was the first record of that kind that I've heard, long before discovering stuff like Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride and Theatre of Tragedy. I guess it's responsible for making me appreciate doom metal and it was also one good companion a few years ago almost daily during some darker periods of my life.

this isn't as bad as you're making out but to me it does sound like a portion of it wasn't really written for heike and they're playing it far too safe
i think if they went in more of a slower, more sombre direction from here it would work better. it's where heike's voice really excels.
