Love within is okay ish if im being very generous

bubs how do you feel about bloc party releases prior to this like excluding silent alarm because people tend to rip those apart and personally they are quite good

I am a huge bloc party fan actually. Weekend in the city and silent alarm are about equal for me (silent alarm is the better record, weekend is a more fluid listen but both are very very close). I'm actually a big defender of intimacy (despite how fuck awful mercury is the rest of the album is stellar). Halo, signs, and ion square are among my favorite bloc party songs. Four is okay

okay, i was just checking if you were in the large category of ppl who appreciate nothing but debut. ive been hesitant to check this out and now that notion is further developed. guess ill have to some time... sadly

Nah dude i love bloc party. Its just this is really REALLY awful
I made an alternate tracklist of intimacy that's better than the original one (it doesnt have mercury so +.5 rating)
1 Ares 2 Halo 3 Trojan Horse 4 Biko 5 Signs 6 One Month Off 7 Zephyrus 8 Letter To My Son 9 Talons 10 Better Than Heaven 11 Your Visits Are Getting Shorter 12 Ion Square
Just make that a playlist somewhere or something the two songs that arent on the original are some of their best songs + no mercury so. Oh and beware, ares is a very...different song

Better Than Heaven is like almost their best song

It's an interesting record. I actually probably come back to it the most. Not because it's the best, there's just something i find compelling about it. Album kinda reminds me of Blur's Think Tank in a way

will give a listen tonight, i havent even given the original intimacy a full spin.
about this album, the only thing i am truly afraid of and not looking forward is if bloc party continues im this direction. if this ends up being only a quick detour to edm, something that bloc party should have had never experimented with (intimacy takes a much more interesting path with its electronics from what ive listened to), then this will stand as a spot in an otherwise stellar career. but if they keep going down this cheap, plasticy road, then ill rlly be sad
