"This is better than Planetary Duality, for the record.'
No way PD is way better, tbh if it weren't for that album this band wouldn't even exist

honestly, i dont get why people are comparing this album to Planetary Duality, I think that Solipsist exceeds the void that Planetary left.

the first song in particular is a direct rip off. you don't get that?

Come on bro you really don't understand why people are comparing this to PD? Keene literally wrote some of the riffs on this album

Planetary Duality is superior in my eyes.
Although The Zenith Passage takes inspiration from them, I wouldn't say its so overwhelming. The end product can stand by itself just fine.

On the list of stuff to listen to. Their demos from a year or two ago were really promising.
Music doesn't always have to be super srs or stimulating, guy. Fun factor is the biggest draw in music to me.

Wow. While this ain't no 5, I'm feeling more and more like a 4+ here. This is just fun.
I know the tropes of tech. death, and yes, some are in full-display here, ad nauseum. Planetary Duality is on my pedestal for the genre, but barring a few moments, I couldn't really call it fun. It's a little self-serious.
I haven't finished this one, so I can't rate it yet, but these guys seem to have a lot of fun with harmonized leads and synth arpeggios. Dare I say, in the machine-gun precision of it all, there's a few breaks where the rhythm becomes catchy and adopts a really neat groove. The bass being so audible certainly helps!
Love the crunchy production except for the clean vocals being quite buried. Say what you will about Keene over the past few years, but he's a great producer.
Pretty neat so far. I'm a big fan of the atmosphere that permeates the whole thing, with the intentional distortion and glitch effects and ambient moments. Though I'm not a fan of the instrumental filler track(s?).
The album title, it's art, and the whole package is very singular and focused in its theme and lyrics. Good vision. I'll give them that too.
It's been said to death, but this is an LP that could have been a derivative snooze-fest, and it somehow managed to avoid that entirely.
I'm a melody > wankery kind of guy, but I've been ignoring the phenomenal new Erra record to listen to this, and I might be enjoying this more.
