"It just sounds like a straight up Circa Survive record for most of its running time"
If that's the way you feel and you like that but not this. some weird shit man
Circa has made an effort to put out generified alt rock trope riding bullshit for 6 years and 3 albums now

so he doesn't like this as much as Circa Survive
and that's a problem, how?
|

blue sky noise is like the least generified alt rock record the band has released tho

It's a problem that this doesn't really do much to differentiate itself from Circa Survive. That is literally not weird shit at all.

something tells me he hasn't listened to Circa Survive
and also I wasn't referencing you're reason for not liking this that much Mongi

I've heard them lol
If circa releases yet another album next that doesn't "differentiate" itself will that be a problem too? after they did it 3 times before that? at least saosin haven't been over saturating the market the way circa have even if they are worse

Why are you getting so defensive? It's a perfectly valid reason for not being a fan of this and also, I do like it, just nothing too inspired to me. And what you just said completely irrelevant too because they're, you know, Circa Survive. It would also be a problem if they released the same album over and over again, which they haven't. But this sounds too much like earlier Circa Survive to have it's own identity for me, simple as that.

I'm not getting defensive or offended lol. Sorry. I'm actually just baffled. I remembered some comments in the bsn thread 6 or so months ago that had me like wtf. and now I'm baffled again by how this sounds like early circa lol

Agreed, Circa sux.
Blue Sky Noise is one of my all-time favorites, and then after that they just lost all steam and put out two snoozefests.
At least while this doesn't sound entirely like Saosin, this is the next-best thing to a BSN followup from Circa LOL.

this is worse

as long as this album had drums and electric guitars playing not DM or metalcore people would say this sounds like circa because of anthony green.

Circa has released too many albums over the last few years. violent noise and descensus were pretty pointless records
Anthony's also been pretty repetitive as of late and doesn't bring much new to the table vocally. I don't blame him as he's done so many projects over the years but his early work with circa and sound of animals fighting remains his best.

I've never liked Circa much nor was I particularly impressed by TTN, but I really dig this. Go figure.

stoked to check this out.
agreed it does sound really similar to circa survive based on the 3 songs I've heard

what's with all the Circa hate wtf? their last album was great!
|

as far as I'm concerned, sounding like circa survive is a good thing (especially since saosin's last LP sucked)

For what it's worth, I don't think any newer Circa Survive records can match Juturna.

I actually liked Saosin's last album, though I do understand why people would hate it.
