Good Old Days and the joke track are a little bit garbage, yeah, but honestly I fw every other track. Last Train Home is terrific
While both are dodgy now the difference between Blink and Green Day is Blink actually were good at some point

one look at the favorite bands section on my profile will answer that question for you
last train home is one of the best on here agreed. some of the songs in the back half are starting to grow on me but good old days, doesn't mean anything hey I'm sorry parking lot and the joke track are still pretty bad (parking lot would be cool if not for the horrendous and distracting lyrics) so i don't know if this will ever rise above a 2.5 for me

Oh right. I mean I like Dookie but Billie Joe was just always so fucking annoying to me. they have some jams
Don't Mean Anything has a weak chorus but it's definitely one of their more emotional songs from these sessions, the verses are quite nice. Matt comes out swinging on Parking Lot and then Mark's verse completely kills the momentum, god I hate it

yeah mark is the worst part of parking lot for sure but "we are forgotten young suburbia" is so not what i wanna hear from skiba at all, although at least he's writing about more than his divorce.
billie joe's voice never bothered me. actually was one of the biggest reasons early on why i clipped on to them. idk why he's not a particularly skilled vocalist range wise ive just always liked the sound of it. it could be obnoxious a lot of the time but it fit the music pretty well (when the music was actually good that is)

Lol Dookie and Insomniac are superior to anything Blink has ever put out, even their S/T, which is pretty godly imo.

if i were to rank the body of work of both bands (including +44 and bcr)
ai>s/t>nimrod>warning>dookie>insomniac>bcr>tyop=enema>neighborhoods>kerplunk>dude ranch>when your heart stops beating>revolution radio>shenanigans>39 smooth >21st century breakdown>this>cheshire cat>california>tre>dos>uno
obviously i prefer green day but most of that is attributed to how monumental they are in the shaping of my taste

love you Rowan
been feeling pretty nostalgic with my listening choices lately, so this just might hit the spot. really solid and entertaining write-up

@atari thanks man! love your work too. I won't pretend this is a work of significant artistic achievement, but it is certainly fun as fuck

Warning was great, and I loved Nimrod as a kid. Even American Idiot blew my mind on its release.
But I agree Green Day never had that thing that blink-182 had at their best.
I was a bit disappointed to find that TOYPAJ didn't hold up when I listened to it the other day. There was a time when I would have sworn it was their best as I loved being contrarian, but as I get older I've realised that a band's most acclaimed album usually is their objective best.

I'm happy to see some ratings are above 3. I'm really not interested in this album but I don't want to see them embarass themselves too much.

TOYPAJ has always been disappointing to me, its like come on guys you're almost 30 stop writing lyrics like this. Albums like Dude Ranch and Enema were obviously immature as well but they felt more earnest to me.

I somehow never realised how much songs like 'Story of a Lonely Guy' were just transparent attempts at rewriting Adam's Song.

This is worse than the original fucking record. I didn't know that was possible, but after listening to this, I now know that it is.

I will defend Blink from one end of the earth to the other but christ on a bike, this is bad. I'm glad I get to see them in July but they should never have gotten back together. RIP Blink.
