Why are the singles tracks 7 and 10? Makes me only want to listen to the second half. Not vibing with this overall, that might change in time. Great review!

thanks everyone!

the single placement is odd now that u mention it, but so is the album's pacing really. probably has to do with her choice to backend those singles. really feels like it's waiting to unload the more powerful stuff until the end (those tracks particularly)

Great review, second spin this morning and the initial intrigue I felt on first exposure had gone. It's still a good album, definitely two or three songs I'll download...but I'll enjoy them more outside the context of the album as a whole.

A little disappointed because the shifts and surprises on first listen I thought might end up what'd hook me here - but the flow actively turned me off second time through.

thanks very much, all! Doof, I definitely think you are not alone there. The pacing and variety seems to be a bit divisive

Grouse, that moment and particularly the "it wouldn't even matter" line is always the first thing to pop into my head when I think of this album. so good

@spacey any part u mean particularly? I don't want anything to come off as inaccessible / requiring more context if I can avoid it

Man, it's been good following her stuff from '07 up to this point. Wonderful that she's getting so much love on this site these days.

Great review.
