Great review. You really had me wen you stated that this band contains mostly Blood Incantation members. I will certainly listen to this soon.

I haven't read the review but to know that they're members from Blood Incantation probably explains why this rules so much.

iirc i liked Blood Incantation's recent effort more but that's mostly because the general premise interested me more. Spectral Voice do what they do very well and tbh i dunno if i could fault any of it but it doesn't ~speak~ to me, nahmean. i'm not really a death-doom guy

The two are extremely close for me tbh. I can't necessarily pick one over the other because I find them to be just as good as quality as each other.

Glad I saw the feature on the front page or I may have missed this. Stellar album all the way through.

Fair enough Johnny, I mean I do like Blood Incantation more too and Starspawn is honestly top 10 dm ever for me, but I also love their angle with this project's sound a lot too.

Metal albums have such cool album covers yet such homogeneous music.

"Metal albums have such cool album covers yet such homogeneous music."

Thats a hilariously broad generalization lmao

Statistically, music is homogeneous.

You're not wrong. I would strongly disagree...

Statement isn't really wrong, but the same case can be made for any band in any music genre really. I mean unless you go all Faith No More King For A Day...on us and fill an album with 10 songs in 10 different styles. Most bands have a signature sound and just roll with that sound. This is certainly true for metal, but for other genres as well.

Agreed, and personally I almost always enjoy bands that hone their craft a lot more than the ones who just throw random ideas around hoping some of their haphazard shit sticks.

If a band manages to bring somewhat of their own kinda vibe to the table - which isn't exactly a given for most bands around - I'm pretty much satisfied these days.

Cheers for the feature whoever did that, appreciate it.

It's also pretty cool that these guys play shows alongside Blood Incantation. It'd be a trip to see a different drummer come out and suddenly they have a totally different sound on display. I am surprised that Paul doesn't contribute vocally here at all though, considering how stellar he is in their other band.

this is really good

that said, i'd probably go to disembowelment first when i'm looking for this kind of death/doom

Hard to believe that this is pretty much the same band that made Starspawn
