@letsgofishing Those were my exact initial feelings, so I think figuring out the whole thing is very worth it. I'm still working on it myself, but I couldn't fit much more in the review so I went ahead with it. I know it's a 5 for me but whether it's a 4.8 or 5.0 maybe is less certain.

Had massive expectations after hearing the first 4 songs/movement. Did not disappoint at all. Unusual and Remember are absolutely phenomenal songs. Not a bad track on here.

This is great, wow

Yeah I've listened to this twice now and it's very good. Something isn't clicking with me quite yet for whatever reason but it's clear this is a cut or two above your typical indie folk/rock album.

It'll drop but to the 4.2-4.3 range probably. Thanks Dewi!

I'm pretty convinced this doesn't come anywhere near White Lighter.
That catharsis when Kyle sings himself hoarse shouting "I will be good though my body be broken" in Common Sentiments, this album really could have used a moment like that.
But, Rorschach is probably my favorite song they've ever done, the melodies here are tender and heartbreaking, the concept feels relevant and devastating, and this is exactly the kind of progression I'd want the band to take.
I have very little complaints.
But all the songs in my head will still be from White Lighter.

^ totally different themes and feels between the two
I think this is better, but can understand why one would prefer white lighter

I prefer White Lighter but only slightly. This one takes a TON of thought and some research to understand the themes while White Lighter is more immediate

I'll always have a special place in my heart for the immediacy of White Lighter, but the growing power of this one is blowing me away.

Just checked White Lighter, impressive, some really big moments there.

I'm trying to put my finger on why the vocals sound so familiar to me, having never heard this band before. My first thought was Beck, then Adam Duritz, then Paul Simon, then Frightened Rabbit, then Modest Mouse, even Mumford and Sons, but none fit exactly. It's like... all of them.
EDIT: It was Pete Yorn!

White Lighter is more immediate, and I will always hold Common Sentiments as the song that resonates with me like no other before it. That said, this entire album feels like a cohesive whole rather than the series of strong moments that White Lighter is.
