This is my first exposure to Vaura but I'm digging it.

Their atmosphere is so damn engaging.

so did their previous albums have more a black metal feel at times? i've never listened to this bunch before

Sort-of, but the Missing was much closer to post-punk imo

@Animals: it’s most similar to the first half of Coffins, but not as jazzy or abstract as any Kayo Dot
@TheSpirit: there’s a little black metal but they’re basically avant-grade metal with post-rock/shoegazing, and this album is full on post-punk and darkwave that’s a little experimental

Just peeked The Missing on youtube and yeah ppl are saying it's like The Smiths meets prog-rock/goth.

That's not a bad description though I hear more of the sprawling goth soundscapes of 1980s The Cure in Vaura than The Smiths.

I'm guessing this is like a softer version of Voices' latest album which also went more in the goth-y chorusy direction?
|

its definitely boring for driver standards

| |
Yeah not feeling this on first listen tbh

Common guys. How much more activity will it take to have a 2019 chart? I miss going there and pick stuff that pop in out of nowhere!

The vocals here just absolutely ruin this for me. Like the soundscape can be really interesting (if a bit lethargic at times), but the vocals are just so adamantly 80s that it that it almost doesn't blend at all
