i really, really hate this. used to listen to these guys a lot in hs and they were always good live. i haven't listened to their past 4-5 albums and wasn't expecting much here, but when did they turn into political simple plan?

the production is fucking garbo, too.

Everything was downhill after Mobilize, they hit their peak after 9/11. Started becoming poppier and poppier with The Terror State and then For Blood and Empire and basically just became a safe anti-war pop punk Simple Plan for teenagers tasting their first bit of political outrage and punk ethos. It's safe dad-rock introductory stuff now, a far cry from the hardcore band that screamed out "FUCK POLICE BRUTALITY" and wrote songs about Mumia Abu-Jamal and others at a time when topics like those were still very much taboo and ignored, a topic which we see is now taking center stage in American politics finally in light of current events (George Floyd, BLM).

This band is great, but honestly I'm pretty sure if this band met me in real life they'd probably beat me up and leave my body on the side of the street.
