Very eloquent (and tear-jerking) review. I can relate to a lot of this and also wish you condolences for the loss of your dad. This record speaks to people in so many ways (as does the EP) that I can only imagine how much it would be magnified by a death in the family. I'm glad this album has helped you through some of it, it's quite the emotional companion.
