That song has some redeemable parts on it but mostly its just...like, progressive nothing. Starlight is defenitely the best track off the album, which is a great song. This album needed alot more content like that. This Message Edited On 08.02.06

I always thought Muse was just another indie pop band, nothing special, but people talk about them like they are radiohead or pearl jam. May want to check this out.
I'm personally among those bold enough to think they are much better than both Radiohead and Pearl Jam. As for teh Radiohead clone thing mentioned at the beginning of this review, I think the main connection people made was that Matt's voice soudned like Thom Yorke, but i personally think that a more obvious influence was Jeff Buckley, which really becomes obvious on slower tracks.

mhmmm muse

I don't get the big deal about this band at all.

Neoteric: "I don't get the big deal about this band at all." I don't know about others but I really like Muse because of their distinct, unique sound; I like the way they blend rock, alternative, pop, electronica and metal. And their songs are distinct in the sense that (most of the time) the bass and drums carry the song and the guitar and piano are there to do whatever they can be used to do. But on your hand, I think Muse can easily be overrated. But of most semi-mainstream rock bands that are overrated I think Muse is the most deserving.
O and can someone tell me how to quote someone? Thanks. This Message Edited On 08.17.07

Just one thing: I think you meant "to the dismay of Muse fans" and not the "demise". If that were the case, well, they'd be dead.
Also thank you for acknowledging their lyrical shortcomings , that's always been my problem with Muse. That and how much they need to stop sucking Radiohead's balls.

This one is just bullshit. They just went and smacked all of their good albums in the face with this one.

Knights of cydonia is so cool
|

Man I forgot how awesome Knights of Cydonia is.
Also, after picking up OK Computer and Kid A, I don't see all the hullabaloo about Muse being a Radiohead ripoff. The only similarity I see is the two singers sound almost identical at times, but musically the bands are so different.

i like playing kights of cydonia on guitar hero only its pretty hard

Eh, I was sort of dissapointed with this. It seems Muse wanted to take a new direction with this album, and it just feels...cheapened by that. It's as if they wanted a few hit singles everyone will know about, and an album everyone in the world will like. Perhaps I'm just not a fan of change, but if there's not a problem, don't fix it. Especially if fixing it makes it worse overall.
Anyway, I really enjoyed the review. I obviously disagree with it, but I enjoyed reading it start to finish. Good job. =)This Message Edited On 01.20.08

Although overall, this album is not as good as Absolution, I currently listen to it a lot more. Every song is great although Map of the Problematique bores me to death!lol
