The Discovery was their peak. Everything else after has been a disappointment. Besides a few, every song is the same on this album.

Save for the singles, "Shadowmourne" and "Lost Souls" were the only ones that really stood out. Album had no business being 55 minutes long.
On the plus side, Cameron absolutely rips on this album. Some of the best drum production I've heard in awhile too.

Thanks, Get Low!
I can completely understand why people don't dig anything off the record, but it was nice for me to see them tame down the riffage and let the synths shine. Cam also destroying it as usual.
My biggest gripe are the lyrics. Just bad, even for BOO standards.

I agree. It's too long and some songs are hit and miss. But it's still fun in places.
Good review.

Shame, I gotta agree with most of the comments here. Albums starts off strong but you soon realize every song sounds the same.
At this point, their riffs are just open note chugs with some notes randomly thrown in. They've typically been masked by ice cream truck jingles from the keyboardist as of late.
Shadowmourne is some real goofy shit though

"The biggest problem is that this feels like a waaaaaaaay less interesting version of their previous albums."
Agreed 100%, The Simulation surprised me an absolute tonne how good it was. This has done the exact opposite for me. This album is like if The Simulation was all only song like Silence the Echo, which was by far one of the weakest songs on that album.

"I love that album lol"
Tomorrow We Die Alive is an absolute blast honestly. During The Discovery and TWDA cycles, it was by far their financial peak, and it's not even close lmao.

I think TWDA and SS have some killer songs, but they were disappointments after The Discovery. I think there’s a fantastic album if they took the best hits between the two.

the clean vocals are trying so hard to sound like Chester Bennington that it's actually kinda insulting

Great review Garth! You cover your points well and the review flows nicely. Pretty much agree with your thoughts.

Thanks! Yeah, I think I might drop this to a 3 overall. Gonna give it more time to digest.
Edit: I think it’ll fall under a 3 like TDWA, Jay

Sigh, I knew this was gonna be another BoO by numbers album and honestly this band probably will never reach the heights of The Discovery ever again unless they get a guitarist as talented as Jason Richardson, the one responsible for the incredible guitar solos on that album. I honestly feel like that album is really the best deathcore album because of just how stupid fun it is to listen to considering the usage of keyboards and super technical guitar playing. Hardly any other bands within the progressive metalcore/deathcore genre have come close.

I can't read, apparently. I thought this album was called "Angel or Allen", and I was like who the fuck is Allen.
