The mid section is I'd dare to say the best Maiden since BNW.

excited to hear this, but the runtime concerns me. book of souls had some stellar stuff but was waaaay too long

The last 3 tracks are such a classic Harris slog.

Lost in a Lost World, Days of Future Past and The Time Machine are the best run. The two singles are solid too, especially having them on repeat while waiting for the album to drop.

Maybe the rest will grow with time. But yeah for now, solid as always, but far from the good ol' days material.

And too much keyboard Steve, I know it was you.

This is great. I would rank the post-reunion albums: Brave New World, A Matter of Life and Death, Senjutsu, The Final Frontier, The Book of Souls, Dance of Death. All Maiden albums rip though and this is no exception.

my pre hearing this ranking would be
AMOLAD > Brave New World > Book of Souls > Final Frontier > Dance of Death
and Dance of Death has Paschendale.

very excited for another solid Maiden album tbh

Somewhat excited to hear this. Most their 2000s material other than brave new world and a song or two from the other records dont really interest me. This prob wont change that but I'll give it a shot. Overly long, boring, lack of direction, is what usually comes to mind with most 2000s maiden to me. A choir to listen to.

Big fan of their reunion albums but the last two haven’t done much for me; but that could be just me getting older.

BNW and AMOLAD are absolute classics and I have a soft spot for Dance of Death.

"So, I wonder if I should check this out, especially if it’s longer than 40-45 minutes.."

If you want to start with XXI century Maiden, I don't think this is where you should start

"Band has a serious problem reeling it in these days. I wish they'd commit to 4-5 minute bangers. Book of Souls was daunting to say the least."

Empire of the Clouds was by far the best thing in that album imo. I agree that albums this long are kinda annoying. Most bands do it these days. 40-50 min like back in the day is the perfect length for most albums

There are a couple of tracks here that could have benefited from some trimming, since they just repeat over and over the same pattern.
