I never gave power metal a chance until I heard this album. It's just so great. I love every song on it. I suppose I like Wintersun and Ensiferum equally, because they both have different advantages. Ensiferum = + on the folk side, Wintersun = +on the progressive power metal side.

Not to mention Wintersun is much more virtuosic in terms of the instrumental and compositional work.

I used to hate Wintersun, due to the crappy song collaboration MP3 on the main site. But I gave the album a shot, and i'm impressed. Could use more clean vocals in my opinion though.

i like the vocals

the album can get a little boring, but there are a few great songs and the musicianship is good in general

Jari's harsh vocals are top-notch but his cleans could use some work. He has the harsh epic singing down but his operatic style is rough around the edges.

Love the review Shadows. Just wanted to say that I checked out a few songs by these guys on their myspace page. They kind of sound like Children of Bodom (without the keyboards) but they do this speed, death, black metal thing wayyyyyyyyyy better than the rest of these melodic metal bands. I will most likely end up buying this because the song Beyond the Dark Sun is unreal.

I recently got my hands on the demo version of both Beyond The Dark Sun and Winter Madness. The Winter Madness one is actually better than the studio because it includes a folk-ish intro that makes it so much better, not that the album version isn't already incredible. This Message Edited On 02.15.07

I just got this. Incredible. I only heard the first two tracks before I got it, but I think its safe to say it was a good buy. I like these kind of reviews where they are tbt only not.

I gotta say I usually don't agree with your choice in bands and don't usually have an interest in them, but this band is simply amazing. I got to thank you for putting me on to them.

If you like Wintersun, you'll like Mirrorthrone. The vocals sound almost exactly the same, and the musical conception is glorious.

Good review, but you overlooked the drummer. He did a fantastic job on this album and deserves some credit himself

The drummer is pretty sick.

The drummer has some of the sweetest and smoothest fills Ive ever heard (and I know a good drummer when I hear one if you feel so bold as to argue that he is not an amazing drummer).
