i think that if you were going to judge APC, go with this, then 13th step, then EMotive, because that is an album full of covers

yeah it does, i only like two songs on it and they are Imagine & Passive

Passive is really the only good one in my opinion. Imagine gets boring quick.

These guys butchered Imagine.

Nobody can do Imagine justice, but leave it to Maynard to try.

But it's so imprinted on society and such (especially after 9/11) that it really should be left alone.

Good review, but APC are just like SOAD to me.....Tool made for the masses.

You think SOAD is Tool made for the masses?

SOAD doesn't deserve even that title IMO, but yes, thats all they are to me at the end of the day I suppose. This Message Edited On 07.27.06

One of my problems is that almost everything is in 6/8, that gets tiring.

3 libras is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. And I mean it.

"The Hollow" is a really amazing song, one of my all time favourites. It really is incredible, I cant get over how good it is!
Shame the rest of the album was forgettable to me

First of all, why do you think SOAD is made for the masses. Just because they sing political and have influence to change things and have become a little bit more popular, saying they are the for the masses, or basicallt saying they sold out is incorrect. Just because a band becomes popular and decides to reinvent themselves, such as Mes/Hyp did (althougt HYp was only average for me) i wouldnt say they sold out. I'm actually quite happy they changed their stlye because even though I love SOAD, i felt they needed change and change they gave. People always complain that a band cant make any differnet type of songs or that "the problem with this band is all their songs sound the same" scenario comes into play. I say good for SOAD to reinventing themselves and im glad they have become more popular.
Now, Mer De Noms is a pretty exceptional album I must say. Magdalena, Orestes, Brena, Sleeping Beauty, Judith and Renholder (yea its barely a song but its sweet) are my favs. I really enjoy Orestes the most though, his voice just sounds so good in that song. I dont feel that this is ANYTHING like Aenima, as some people like to comment. Aenima was a crazy good and fcked up album that was great and all, but i mean like 5 of the songs were filler. Now, even though Mer De Noms is a great album, I think that 13th step is the best APC album. The Package, the noose, blue, pet, gravity and vanishing were such crazy good songs. Emotive was an OK album, i kinda wish it had more Maynard songs because its funny that the one APC wrote, Passive, was the best song on the entire album. Fiddle and the Drum is pretty amazing too. "peace love and understanding" however, is one of the worst songs ive ever heard...seriously that song blew nutsacks
Oh yea, and what is IMHO?This Message Edited On 01.16.07

Is it just me, or does this album get old for anyone else? It's good , but not as good as when I first had it.
