I liked this album. It took me a while, but it was a rewarding effort in the end.

While I did not feel all the tracks The Information had to offer, I believe this album was pretty sweet. The various ideas and styles blended together gets me in a nice groove. I loved how certain motifs would pop in and out of songs here and there. My favorite track would have to be Cellphone's Dead.

Can't agree with rating, but opinion isn't debatable, so good review.
No complaints, Dark Star, Cellphones Dead... quirky and enjoyable in my voice. This Message Edited On 04.12.07

It may not be his best, could have been better, but it still delivers on some levels.
I really enjoyed:
"New Round"
"Dark Star"
"We Dance Alone"
Beck is still the biz-ness.

^^ Yeah really. I dig the laid-back mood of it all. Besides, Beck's strong points were never the guitar-driven stuff. I like how this album is very dense and full of ideas and sounds that you hear only after repeated listens. I bought this about a year ago, and listened to it here n ther. But only recently have I been diggin it, and to be truthful I think you were a bit harsh on the review. Especially comparing it to Midnite Vultures and Guero.

I liked it a bit more but very good review... Cellphone's Dead, Strange Apparition, and a couple others are great but there's just too little variety for a fairly long album - I complete agree that he needed some rock in there.

I did like "Think I'm In Love" and "We Dance Alone", but I just can't get through "Strange Apparition"

This is album was, and is, mad under-appreciated. One of the most jarring and thoughtful albums about the impersonality that technology has created....and this album came out before stuff like social networking and getting a new phone every few months were widespread.
It's like some people just can't handle Beck if he isn't singing goofy non-sequiturs and playing delightfully tacky guitar riffs. This review is Exhibit A of that.
"if I could forget myself, I'd find another lie to tell
if I had a soul to sell, I'd buy some time to talk to my brain cells"
that's pretty fuckin brilliant

His rapping flow is at it's best here tbh. Its a nice meeting point between guero and sea change, with a little odelay thrown in.

Upon first listen: far from essential if you're only kind of into Beck, but still pretty good
Could use a bit more oomph though
