I always nagged at myself to pick this up at an end of store sale recently that happened here; this is a band that has always intrigued me but for whatever reason (perhaps because they seem to be disgracefully underated) never gave a proper look into. I will now after reading this.

funnily enough, I first heard this band on a Relapse Records mini-sampler with Dillinger and prior-explosion Mastodon.

This is great judging from my first listen.

Definitely a move away from their older material. But it's really cool. Quite diverse if I may say so. I still need to check out Within Dividia however.

This album dosen't do it for me sometimes, other times it does, I guess it depends on my mood.

I don't really like their older stuff. If i wanted to listen to something like that i'd just go listen to dillinger. I love this progression they've made.

Finally listened to these guys. Pretty good album, though not as amazing as I would have hoped.

Coke,

When Im down and out, I find I write my best stuff on guitar and drums. Seems to me like your mood added on to your creativity. Excellent review and album. This was a huge step up from Within Dividia.

Their first album is still probably their best. Within Dividia had so many great ideas, but it was a transition album because I believe it was partially written when Tyler was still in the band, and finished once Aaron joined.

Fans of this should still look into their back catalogue, as well as Mare, who were ferocious.

This is better than I remember it being 10 months ago. Their oldest album too.

Picked this up at Best Buy on a whim, and am very happy I did. This album is awesome. I haven't heard the previous two yet, but they're currently in the mail. From what I've read they're better. This Message Edited On 05.08.08

Awesome album. I heard this album first; should I bother checking out their previous releases?

The previous releases are way different, sort of DEPish, you know chaotic, no singing, mathcory.

If you like DEP I would take a stab at Within Dividia then their debut, just don't expect the refined Elementary sound.
