Collapse is one of the first songs I got into. That (I think it's 6/8) piano melody and the strings rule. It's almost Coldplay-ish (the first thing my dad said when he heard it was something like "COLDPLAY RIPOFF"). It's also one of those albums that I was like "fuck, this rules" instantly. Some songs I did not get into entirely but I was already amazed when I heard this in like March/April somewhere.
It's also an excellent album to play with parents or other people around, as it's rocking but not abrasive. I've found that a lot of people can get into this record easily, also people that do not like metal or don't even like prog all that much. It's just got some all-around amazing qualities like catchiness, superb vocal melodies, a low degree of technical wank, and superb songwriting: everything seems to bloody fit on this album. Songs don't take too long or too short. They meander with exactly the right tempo or volume.
It's a really, really well-constructed, varied, amazing album and it completely baffles me that this band and album aren't getting half the major recognition they should.

Collapse was probably the last song I got into, but as of lately it's becoming one of my favorites. Just amazing how the strings and arrangements get more intense at the end and then all you hear is some distorted guitar feedback fading out.

This album keeps growing on me. I've always thought it was their best, but recently I've started to enjoy the songs that I hadn't liked that much before. Trains really is on a different level than all of their other songs though, certainly one of the best of this decade.

Good review but I've no idea why you wrote about 'Collapse...' sounding like Coldplay as the two songs you mentioned in relation to it had only been released about a month before In Absentia was released!
