'Song for Sleeping' is a bit wet and absolutely standard fare
'Son' off 12 Bar Blues was also written for his son and ten times better

Damn, still need to check 12 Bar Blues...
|

It's not a great introduction ha ha but that was the single they put out first. I feel like it should've been dumb love instead. Ah well, This was probably their last LP I bought on release and I dig it more than self titled like you said davil some solid stuff here had to bump it gonna rotate through their discography today can't forget this one entirely!

I need to hear Weiland's solo stuff & Talk Show Host
this album's incredibly enjoyable to me and it's sad the future of the band was basically just going on hiatus then coming back to make one more relatively standard rock record before firing Weiland and him dying, which still kind of takes me by surprise sometimes. mostly because I knew of them when he was alive but became a fan after his death

I've actually never listened to any of his solo records, I'll have to check it out. Weiland was cool, I saw him a few time with temple and revolver. He was messed up from the get-go; sucks, but I've always been a fan.

12 Bar is cool because it's so fearless...but as a result it's schizophrenically hit and miss

Album Rating: 3.5
Haha yeah, maybe I will. Will give it a spin again the next days and then decide how I feel about it now. It's been ages... It needs all high ratings it can get, the average is def too low. Same goes for No.4 but that's a different story :]

In no world is this album a 4 lol

Not in the Doofus universe maybe, in mine it could be I guess.

Even if you rated 'Purple' a 5, there's no way this is only 1 point lower in score...so logically it should be impossible to rate this a 4 if you've listened to the entire STP discog.
Then you factor in there are a few grunge/90s rock albums more worthy of a 5 than 'Purple' and that should sit on a 4.5...then you see how even more impossible it becomes to rate this album a 4.

I can see where you're coming from Doofus, but your logic has a weak spot, it's all in your special universe. I mean, you're trying to convince someone who has No. 4 rated as classic so it seems we're not on the same rail regarding this band anyway :] I really think some of the tracks on here rank among STP's best material.
