agreed!
The Mouth Licking What You've Bled is the most intense track I think I've ever heard in my life!!!! lyrics are incredible... 2:18 to 2:45 is BRUTAL!!!!
Every track rules. Elastic is solid but that 'noise' at the end... meh... shit.

Ok, so I heard New Mellenium Cyanide Christ for the first time today and I really dig it. I have never listened to a full Meshuggah album before though...any ideas on where to start???

You should start with ObZen; their most accesible album to date. Then listen this.
This is my favorite record from them, but the last track is a waste of time.

Bumping up to a 4, this is really good. I can easily listen all the way through, stopping a couple minutes into the weird noises at the end (or middle) of elastic.

Try listening to "Sol Niger Within Version 3.33", that's their side project album. It's half melodic with a much larger jazz influence. It could work as a gateway to getting into Meshuggah. It's by the band Fredrik Thordendal's Special Defects. After I listened to that a few times, It was easier to get into Catch 33 and eventually Chaosphere.

It's had 4 years to grow on me, and now resides as an immovable tumour on my musical conscience. Messhuggah at their thrashiest.

Meshuggah was a little rough for me to get into intitially ....but boy once i came around it was like a new door of musical crushing ecstacy had hit me face on.
This album is a prime example of what i love about Meshuggah. Insanely inhuman grinding, pounding, relentless .
I love every song on this album, nothing fails me here. Probobly my favorite album by them, OR maybe "Obzen".......god (or lack thereof) , really hard to decide.

I'm curious as to why several people mentioned "Elastic" as being nothing more than "noise", "pointless", or a "waste of time." I do know the filler to close the album is basically 15+ minutes of "noise".... but the actual song, "Elastic", is a fantastic 4:15/6:00 song.
Anyway, I think Meshuggah are the most unique, complex, and grooviest (metal) band around. And Chaosphere is just that: chaos. It's the heaviest, craziest, most relentless album I've ever heard.
