What happened to THIS offspring dude? I mean splinter is fine, but the rest of the albums after this are meh...I can't stand americana because of the singles minus she's got issues...and maybe the kids aren't alright. Conspiracy is great, but the punk driven songs in that album are REALLY BAD

This album is the last real Offspring album, the 2 others following are good if you take out the hits from the playlist, except maybe Pretty Fly because it's ironic the people it makes fun of were those who liked it the most, they had only dance and rap music in their car, only rock song on their cd-r's was Pretty Fly and somehow didn't get they were getting trashed by the Offspring.

Anyway, there is no filler here, all songs are good, especially the last 2 songs, Amazed and Change The World are classic offspring, it always this kind of grunge-like nihilism to their stuff from this album back to the self-titled. They did well, All I Want as their first single was ballsy.

As for the label stuff, I don't know why but Brett hated Dexter so much, the contract he had for them was so horrible like, if Dexter died all he owns goes to Mr.Brett and shit like this, I remember, it's one of the first internet shit-storms back when I got the net in '97, that album was just out and Dexter made a long post on offspring's site and on alt.music.offspring and wow, Brett was an asshole when he was so addicted to heroin he gave up all pretense of integrity and wanted to milk them for his heroin addiction. They wanted to remain on Epitaph, a label they considered legendary (at the time, still true).

Yeah there was definitely a drop-off in that department. But as someone who enjoys all of their albums to some extent, I'd say the songwriting is still acceptable for the most part. Of course every once in a while you get a stupid song like Cruising California, but I think Dexter is still a pretty decent song writer.
