been revisiting this a lot recently after getting the vinyl for my bday, i think i'll always prefer the vlad tepes side (mainly because i'm a vlad tepes fanboy) but the belketre side has it's own unique and twisted charm that has grown on me so much recently.

Yeah, I think I love both sides equally. It's kind of crazy how influential these two bands, and to a greater extent the whole of the LLN have been on modern black metal. I feel as if any band that is obviously very "Norwegian Black Circle" influenced these days, is just boring and cliched, but any band that has been influenced by these guys is just like "OMFG"

speaking of influence, i couldnt help but notice that some of the guitar sections on the belketre songs are very "similar" to some of the sections ad riffs on Volahns full length.

feeling that, it's like "oh great someone attempting to rewrite Transilvanian hunger for the 992848262th time, i wonder how this will sound!?" I think the LLN had enough unique facets and once you get past the production the differences between each of the projects is really good. Some of the dark ambient stuff they produced was awesome too.

Yessss, I agree hard. Aakon Keetrah is an obvs favorite from their dark ambient stuff. I used to know a lot more off the top of my head, but asides from a few favorite groups/releases, I've kind of forgotten a lot of stuff from this scene.

I've recently picked up the Moevot best of comp that was put out last year, only managed to sit down and listen to it once. I was planning on putting the rip up on ptc at some point, i actually havn't got any of the Aakon Keetrah stuff yet. Been into the LLN for a couple of years now but have only managed to start picking up random releases in the last year and a half, some of it is as rare as rocking horse shit and can cost a fair amount even for bootlegs.

At one point I had every single LLN release downloaded. It's actually quite amazing how many groups there were, a lot more than people usually know about.

Ive been trying to ease off on buying stuff recently to get my astronomical backlog worked through, but ive been slowly adding to my list of stuff to pick up and lln projects i find evidence of. I came across a forum thread from metal archives a while back about the LLN and some dude had a list of about 40 related projects thats he knew of.
