My old bassist joined a band called Persephone after he quit ours. I thought this was the same band for a minute. I was like.... Whaaaa??

Haha. The odds of that coincidence is pretty huge since these guys are from Andorra, but yeah the band names are basically identical. I bet these guys are better though ;)

I wouldn't doubt it. May check.

Persefone can do no wrong by me man. Very consistent band. All albums are at leasts 4s for me.

The melodic leads at about 4:25 of Exiled to the Void are orgasmic

Too many orgasmic leads to pick a single one tbh. And don't even get me started on the solos...

Haha I remember feeling the same way too when I first heard it. It sounds so damn hopelessely desperate and horriffic. I think the guitar sound makes it stand out a lot too, prob my favorite tone of all time
Spinning this right now actually. Been too long.

Listened to this start to finish for the first time today and holy shit it is the hardest of 5s. It's a pity that Persefone is such a generally unknown band; all their albums are fantatsic.

Yeah dude. No album has blew my mind as hard as this one on the first listen. The atmosphere is untouchable.
The fact that they're from Andorra might be a contributing part of their rarity. A new album is in the works too if you didn't know, btw.

I don't think they'll ever top this, but they haven't lost a shred of talent. They still put out great material.
Core is just so damn ambitious and it paid off big-time. Somehow they managed to make three 20+ minute songs entertaining, engaging, atmospheric, and not boring in the slightest.
And you learn a bit about Greek mythology as a bonus.
