The Godspeed comparison could all be fixed if you like substituted that for a trchnical punk-pop band or something, and like, it would help if you analyzed a bit more and like, you should [rpbably be more fluent and precise with your word choices. The length is fine, but it's what you're not doing with the length that hurts this review.

"ok, this is the point where you point out what exactly you disagree with me on (preferably on Emery, I feel much stronger about that one)"
Ok, just re-read your review. First paragraph is just whinging, simple as that. Later, you described the album with words like disgust and putrid- pretty strong language right? Why would you subject yourself to anything like what you described as such? Are you some sort of masochist??? I agree that the screams are pretty annoying, occasionally they add to the atmosphere, but they suck and should be dropped. I don't see any monotony, each song is different and unique and packed with emotion. Filler- usually involves something that just loops, no? The vocalists are clearly skilled, the riffs are suitable, the strings are great. Catchy sing along chorus' are abundant, there is plenty of music out there worse than this. You put it way below average... have you listened to the radio in your life... ever?? Seen live concerts?? You must be detached to not know where 'average' lies.

No really Eric you deserve a pos for this review.
While I don't agree on the rating I do agree that it isn't as solid as their previous two albums. I think the review was good, could have possible expanded on some more topics as to why it went down to a 2.0 instead of maybe a 3 or 2.5 because it reads more like that instead of a 2.
Nonetheless a good review as per usual.

Um, radio music is like less than 10 percent of music. Just because everyone knows who they are doesn't mean they're a large group whatsoever. So, expand before you act.
Um, he wrote a review for an album he disliked - I don't think I've downloaded or bought an album and haven't listened through all of it, ever.
Um, like, filler means boring and useless crap that doesn't need to be there. He'd like specify whether or not there was a bunch of loops in a pop-punk song, because that'd be about as cool as plunderphonics and noise in a alt-folk jam.
Like, he's reviewing the album on a level to which he thinks music should be, in terms of quality in such, stop comparing shit to what's on the radio.
Like, he didn't like an album, so he's going to describe it as a poor experience all around. He has a right to his opinion and to express it, so he's going to do just that.
Chill out and think up actual criticisms rather than things that are purely stupid "I disagree with you go elsewhere you're dumb"-isms, k?

not you blindsided but ren over thar

You're just defending him because you don't like fun music
Yep I'm so jelluz!!
Duh, how does that even make sense, not liking fun music? Fun is subjective, really. Like, you could say this is fun, but I'll still say Joanna Newsom is fun. And like, you can say this is exciting, but I'll say this is obnoixious now go listen to John Zorn for fun.

Ok, just re-read your review.
OK.
First paragraph is just whinging, simple as that.
Not quite sure what constitutes "whinging," but is this "whinging" or is it a fair representation and analysis of the music at hand, in my opinion of course? - The popular Christian band is the face of the demise, the fall of something beautiful. ...In Shallow Seas We Sail is an output that, intentionally or not, is watered down ad infinitum, equally disappointing in its direct output and the effect of the deplorable music on display.
Later, you described the album with words like disgust and putrid- pretty strong language right? Why would you subject yourself to anything like what you described as such? Are you some sort of masochist???
I was recommended the album. It really is putrid. You just explained to me that you listened to High Violet many times and thought it was horrible each time. I kept listening because I was hoping it would grow. It didn't.
Filler- usually involves something that just loops, no?
no. not at all.
The vocalists are clearly skilled
the screams are pretty annoying... but they suck and should be dropped
lol
there is plenty of music out there worse than this.
how does that make this (Emery) not horrible?
have you listened to the radio in your life... ever?
I only started listening to non-radio music about 2 and a half years ago
Seen live concerts??
some, yes

I listened to this once and it didn't really blow me away, so it's nice to see a negative take as well as positive. As far as negative reviews go I found this one to be pretty agreeable (as well as well-written, of course)

I don't seriously understand how you can think EIIKM was less sugary/poppy than this but hey!
|

For the record I don't really like EIIFM all that much either... it's I Am The Movie and Commit This To Memory that are fantastic I think
