Other than the bassist not being noticeable this album is a BIG step up from Creature and they can only get better if you ask me.

and the ending melody in Roads is fucking immense.

IDK about it being a BIG step up, but it's definitely on par.

@bringonthebreakdown

Ha. It's one of my comments I guess. Proof that somebody's actually reading this thread. Well. I'm hinting at the fact that the material hasn't been thought through properly. I hope it's clearer now.

This is a major step up for sure. Personally I didn't like their last album at all. This one is definitely more focused and structured. The songwriting has improved, but I wish they had made even bigger progress in this field and this is my main problem with this record. This is still too technicality-driven to my mind.

It sounds the same, but slightly heavier and with different vocals. I really don't know where you're going with this...

Definitely a big step up.

I dunno guys, you give me a song from this and a song from Creature and they're awfully similar sounding. This is still better in terms of the riffs and vocals or whatever, but that's about it.

This is more of that bad music isn't it?

I see what your saying, i happen to like the technical stuff more than other me being musician i guess. If only they did not play in 4/4 most of the time. The new vocalist is why i think the step up was big because the last vocalist was terrible and annoying, But yea if they take care of the bassist problem, the songwriting then they add more melodics in place of the kinda overplayed breakdowns they would be pretty good to go in all aspects.

The last vocalist was terrible? Really? I don't think his voice was as good, but his delivery was a lot better and his style fit their sound better, js.

I'm definitely more into this new singer, maybe it's the vocal production, but he sounds a lot clearer here and seems to have more range.

He has better ranged, definitely, but IDK, his recording of The Book Of Books blows this out of the water, cause he did it like the old guy, just with a better voice, you know?

Really? Weird because he was kinda annoying like you never could tell he was in the band half the time because the instruments would overshadow and overpower his weak vocals. He never really had vocal highlights except for the breakdowns lol. Tim's vocals fit more and are strong enough that you know he is screaming and while he band band is playing.

IDK how you can say his vocals sound weak.

But I gotta admit, the whole production on Creature was pretty bad. Very mushy sounding imo. That's what really brought the album down.

I agree. And the guitar tone on Empires is way better, same on this.

Except for, you know, the ability to write fucking catchy Maiden riffs.

So is the guest vocalist on ''Oath'' the old lead singer of Through The Eyes of The Dead?

Yeah, that's Nate Johnson.

You gotta specify tho, cause Anthony Gunnells was in TTEOTD much longer than Nate and before him.

I was seriously so stoked when I heard my friend say TTEOTD's old singer is on the one song when he sent me it, and then I was like, oh, it's Nate.
