This and In Sorte Diaboli are pretty much in the same boat.

@Undead: The album is actually enjoyable and the stronger tracks are pretty good, but like I said, nothing stands out drastically. I might have given it a 2.5 based on its lasting value, but I'm a sucker for the styles they've used, especially here (comparing it to SBD, my favorite of their albums), so I pretty much alternated between 3 and 3.25.

It's better overall than ISD and Stormblast MMV, not drastically but enough for me to say it's a definite verdict. But the few stronger moments on ISD (The Serpentine Offering, The Heretic Hammer) are better than the best points here.

This basically sounds like a relatively weak Old man's child album

@Hawks: I just love the way it sounds? I'm a sucker for symphonic elements, especially when used in a way that it makes the music sound and feel natural. It built upon EDT well by being frantic and melodic; dark and elegant. It's an album I can almost always fall back on and love, enjoying or even appreciating the aspects even more on a subsequent listening. Some of their other work feels cookie-cutter by comparison. I don't how else to put it; it just gives me an eargasm.

the overproduced symphonic wank is unbearably painful

i just enjoy it, sometimes sounds overproduced, and the band sound doesn't match the symphonic parts sometimes. Dimmu seems no longer Black Metal, but an Avangarde metal band. Completely avant listening to gateways more closely.

Yeah! if garm even mention the name of the band, that band will instantly become avant garde, and Garm itself sings on this one!. (i sounded like an arcturus fan boy, hehe). Garm doesn't consider it sex if the woman survives.
