So you are doing a Rush discography, amirite? I've been working through their albums, too bad I haven't been able to give anything higher than a 4 so far. 2112 and this would be far better if the epic wasn't so disjointed from the other tracks.

Take that back Nag, La Villa Strangiato is one of Rush's best

That doesn´t change anything about the fact that it doesn´t really mesh together as an album too well.

I disagree, I find the album flows perfectly from one song to the next

I do agree it´s much more of an issue with 2112.

Good review. Album is as fantastic as Farewell, but I tend to listen to the latter much more.

Sweet review, sonic.

To the people saying that this review is fanboyish, know this: Either you are a Rush fanboy, or you are a faggot.

Do people honestly think that Rush has no classic albums?? Dude, motherfucking 2112, or Moving Pictures. Even the retards at allmusic.com consider those classics

Kinda like the tone of this review haha but yeah this is probably the best Rush. Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures are so close though.

I absolutely love Hemispheres, it's my favorite Rush album too and until recently I thought I was the only one who adored it. I also liked the jab at Robert Christgau, that guy is a complete dick.

I don't think this is really self-indulgent, though. I tend to think of things like Liquid Tension Experiment instead, which really are wanky over-the-top nonsense. Rush shows off their chops, but everything is so precisely and deliberately structured that none of it feels contrived at all. There's no aimless wanking at all on Hemispheres or Strangiato.
