Shake Me Down is really catchy, even if the radio has started to overplay it. I don't know if the rest of the album looks as good though. We'll see.

I think the folky sound is still in tune, it just plays around in other realms while continuing a strong, eccentric feel throughout.

I like the alt/indie sounding songs more than the noisy ones, but I love this album. Shake Me Down and Aberdeen are probably my favorites.

I thought this was alot like there first release. Not musically, but in the fact that the first half of the album is great, then a bunch of mediocre songs come in the second half

While their self-titled debut LP was fun, brash & energetic, one could not help but feel that the future of Cage The Elephant would eventually resemble that of Jet & The Vines. The Kentucky quintet must have agreed, since 2nd LP 'Thank You, Happy Birthday' sees their sound change to something more akin to fuzzy, abrasive post-punk. The underlying melodies do make this a grower to some extent, but they also make for an akwardness amongst all the scuzz & rowdiness. Not as immediate or as catchy as the debut, the highlights here are good, but filler continues to plague the band. Recommended Tracks: Aberdeen, Right Before My Eyes & Around My Head.

I'm inclined to agree Davey, I think I was too kind to this.

Depends on personal taste. The 2 albums don't exactly sound alike, so kudos to them for changing it up, I guess.

How about those Spitfires climbing their way up the fantasy epl standings.

Yeah, I'd agree... But I think there's less of them here than on their debut.

Nah, I wasn't there at BDO. But I had seen before that he likes to go for a surf.

I thought they took way more chances than any band this young should and for me it payed off.
