I too find listening to Diamond Dogs once a week to be a good point, Ars.

"honestly only remember rebel rebel from this one"
Don't blame you, this is easily his worst 70s album... unless you count Pin Ups which I won't even listen to cuz meh cover albums.
Sweet Thing and We Are the Dead also rule though. Nothing too poor on here, but a lot of meh.

I actually like this one a bit more than Aladdin Sane. First, "Rebel Rebel" is better than all of the rockers on that album combined, but, yeah, I find the title track generic, despite an interesting reoccurring riff throughout. "Rock'n'Roll With Me", "1984" and "Big Brother" are all highlights, but I have mixed feelings about the "Sweet Thing" suite. The first track/part is the best and a highlight, but there is no evolution to the suite as a whole; they just repeat the chorus in some variations throughout its 9 minutes. Plus, the closer is stupid.

Rebel Rebel is the weakest song on here wtf. Album is a lyrical masterpiece

I didn't say it was the best here; plus, I'm judging primarily by music, lyrics are secondary for me, even for guys like Cohen or Dylan who made their names as lyricists or "spokesmen"

I judge primarily by music as well. Doesn't change the fact that this album is a masterpiece lyrically. Bowie did a single disco song, probably the best one ever, and called it a day before the disco wave ever hit. Dude is such a visionary.
