I love this album. Trains, The Sound of Muzak (best lyrics on the album), and Wedding Nails (pure riffage!) stand out to me. 5/5 all the way.

There's something about this album which doesn't quite resonate (or something like that) well with me. Kinda hard to get in and along with. Some great tracks on here though.

They have much better works.

I don't know why I haven't responded to this yet. This album is amongst my top five of all time for sure. I was completely floored by it the first time I listened, and it hasn't lost any appeal yet.

I got In Absentia today, after being assaulted by Deadwing and Voyage 34 I had very very big expectations and was blown away. The album can make you headbang in senseless craziness one second and drift off into sleep-like bliss the next.

meh, I don't like this album that much anymore. Majority of the songs are slow and boring. Like Zappa said this album is a snooze. Trains and .3 own though.

Deadwing is far superior to this.

Edit: I'd give it a 3.5This Message Edited On 10.02.05

This album is one of my all-time favorites, but I agree that there are some weak points on it. For me they went away after a few listens, and I grew to love every song. Deadwing is still superior in my mind, though.

Porcupine Tree are more like Opeth's album, Damnation, but better. That's the only comparison I can make, really.

Only reason I compare them to Radiohead is that they a similar sound to them. Not identical...damn, I can't really describe it. When people ask me about PT and what they sound like, the only thing I could say is to combine 2 genre's that they sound like the most "prog and british indy"
