"Haha! Greg in full-on "get off my lawn" mode."
^Yeah. I guess I'm a bit too hard on new contribs.
Btw, you nailed it SitarHero.

I'm inclined to agree with greg and sitar about something becoming "more progressive" sounding kinda weird.

But I think Traced in Air is their best
I get people finding this "boring" but it works just perfectly for me. That's sort of what I want. At first listen it can sound "samey", but now it just sounds "samey but I can pick apart the catchy parts to remember which song I'm on". And I like that a whole lot more than your typical distinct 6-track easily-memorizable metal album. That would suck if the goal was to be ambient and atmospheric. That shit's gotta be hazy and mazelike to achieve full effect.

The instrumental version of Nocturne has a guitar solo at the end.......weird, the normal one doesn't.

sorry this goes back to the first page but there is certainly a huge difference between "technical metal" and "djent". the whole reason it was called djent in the first place is because it was based off of a certain sound. if a band lacks that tuneless messhuchug then they are not djent.

Djent doesnt mean what it used to, you can use it very loosely nowadays and it'd still make perfect sense

not to me. If it doesn't have that certain sound it aint djent.

Make of it what you will. As far as I can tell, you're all able to pretty easily gather what I mean by the statement despite arguing the semantics of it.
Djent isn't necessarily progressive in my book, either.

Progressive doesn't mean odd time signatures and long songs. Metal bands who do that ought to just be called technical metal imo
Djent was cool for awhile but now it's just a boring fad.

i'll never understand this kind of band being called metalcore. where is the hardcore in their sound

Hey Thompson, just saw this little thing:
"has gradually become little more a weighty shackle on their legs."
Did you mean to say more than" a weighty shackle?

And it kind of sucks :/

Good Review!
The metalcore statement needs to be removed. It really is quite ridiculous.
I also disagree that this band is genre confused. In fact, I would argue the opposite. Considering the band uniformly apply their style for the entirety of the record, they know what they are.
