"Catch Fire" is definitely a grower, even if the lyrics are awful.

"This Time It's Personal" was not a non-sequitur.

""This Time It's Personal" was not a non-sequitur."
That's bullshit and you know it.
EDIT: I guess maybe it's kinda debatable.

I don't think it's even debatable. It's a clear reference/homage to cheesy '80s action movie sequel taglines. I assume Select Difficulty is a reference to PIII being Player 3 in a video game. Periphery song titles are definitely non-sequiturs, but the album titles are referential jokes and as such there's logic to them.

Damn good observation actually

Great review! I have been really into this band before, but it has become too expected. Some bangers here, and then there is The Price is Wrong :/

Absolomb and Lune give all the feels. I'm a fanboy of this band and I know the stigma it has on Sputnik but whatevs.
I love the orchestral parts but they definitely need to change it up more on the next album. As per usual the melodic stuff is leaps and bounds better than the heavy stuff.

I mean holy shit thats a bad song.

It's just a video game reference since the guys are massive nerds IRL.

Playing video games isn't a nerdy thing to do anymore.
Maybe ten + years ago it was, but now it isn't.

Eh. In terms of the logic of the actual statement itself, P2 is definitely debatable. i.e. "This Time It's Personal" - which time was not personal? The first time? What was the first time? What's personal? The album? Who's the inferred "personal" dynamic engaged with? The thousands of people that listen to the album? And Select Difficulty doesn't really have anything to do with anything.
Yes, I know that both of these are referential, but the material referenced doesn't follow the logic of the topic at hand (an album title, the band, or the music presented), and as such I see them as non-sequiturs. I get it if you see it differently and maybe there's a better term out there that fits the point I was trying to make with the poignancy I was aiming for, but I can't think of it and I think I'm close enough that I'm not going to really stress over it.

After listening to Absolomb for years without vocals, the new version feels pretty underwhelming to me.

There was a lot of love for MK Ultra when it first came out. I don't dig it, but it seems like a good handful do.
