The cluttered feeling went away for me after a few listens. There is a lot of structure buried beneath, it's just that a lot of the elements are, like you said, colliding in overwhelming fashion. But for me that's really part of the thrill. Like the clutter is still there on the surface, but the layers are there for me to dissect. And him doing this without loops is pretty mind-blowing imo.
