I've just never 'got' Norma Jean, maybe I need to go back to them but when listening to their stuff it just doesn't click.

I was blown away by Invent, Animate's Stillworld album last year, that album was a masterpiece imo. Best metalcore album I had heard since Erra's Augment

I probably would, but fuck me there's too much shit to catch up on at the minute, currently got the new Glassjaw, Icarus The Owl, The Faceless all in rotation, there's simply not enough time to keep up with everything.

Yeah, Inertia sounds really generic at first (and it mostly is), but I noticed some small touches which give the music some depth. For example, the use of the title track's tune in the ending of the last song (it reminded me of Finch's Say Hello to Sunshine, where they did something similar - a song briefly used a tune from another one).

My favourite release last year was Forbidden To Fly's Resilience.(http://forbiddentofly.bandcamp.com) The EP struck a real nice balance in combining metalcore with some deathcore. Also, that production quality... It's seriously the best sounding release I've ever heard. Everything is clear, nothing is muffled and the guitars are really 'crisp'. I really love it.

This would be so much better if they weren’t so into adding stupid generic indistinguishable clean choruses to every single song

They should've stuck with the sound they had going on the first EP tbh

They're really good at this style but yeah I think a whole album of more refined versions of "Wherever I may Walk" would probably top this.

Sonder's my fav from this album, but it just doesn't have the diversity of WIMW in my opinion.

Saw these guys live last week. Absolutely outstanding. If you can, go see these guys. Well worth it imo. Jamie is a beast.
