Someone I know used CD Baby instead of RouteNote and told me it was real professional but of course there was a price tag per release and I don't know about the percentage of the cut they take.
I mean it's the era we live in, I used to go to my local store or buy CD's at merch tables at shows, but I kind stopped and now I mostly stream everything on Spotify/Bandcamp. I try to support in other ways like buying digital on Bandcamp, shirts/hoods or tickets for concerts (I haven't jumped into vinyl cause that would ruin me..!). On the flipside, you get the chance to have exposure without having any physical release. I have to admid I was excited to see my LP downloaded like 175 times on metal-tracker and a couple hundreds of stream on Spotify

lol yeah, as you know RouteNote is a bit shoddy, but you get what you pay for I guess.
I think everything in the music industry has changed for better or worse. On one had it's amazing how easy for an artist to get their music out there and available for anyone who wants to hear it, but nowadays there's so much being put out there it's hard to sift through it all.
I'm the same as you though, I still go to shows to support the artists, but there's a handful of newer bands that I love, have seen live, but don't own a single piece of physical media from. Collecting vinyl is a rough hobbie, and so far from economical. I just picked up Wolves in the Throne Room - Two Hunters and Ulver - Shadows of the Sun, and think I spent around $70-$80 for two albums...

"but there's a handful of newer bands that I love, have seen live, but don't own a single piece of physical media from" [2]
- and I'd add a huge amount of older/classic band in my case!
Yeah I know that's like 90-100$CAD but I'm pretty sure the vinyl master and artwork sound and look glorious. I have some of my favorite 70's prog album in vinyl from my old dad's collection (though in pretty rough condition) and I think that price tag you mentioned is what has stopped me joining the vinyl minner's club for now

I used Distro Kid - flat yearly rate for as many releases under one artist as you want. They don't take any cut of the profits and its cheaper than the others anyway.

Was thinking about using it as well, it seemed decent but I don't think I would make money if I had to pay 20 dollars a year to get my music to streaming services. I'd do it if I had some spare cash

"Ulver - Shadows of the Sun"
Yeah. I probably spent waaay too much on that one, but I listen to it all the time.
