Also just wanted to throw a [3] on “I feel like the lines, 'oh what a world/ I don't want to leave' alone have more weight to them than like 98% of all recorded music does”

“These are real things”

"I wouldn't say her earlier stuff had 'forthright cynicism', they certainly aren't as uniformly positive as this is but I don't see how you can call songs like 'Follow Your Arrow' or 'Biscuits' cynical."

I was referring more to her lyrics describing her attitudes about "the world" in the past (one big beauty pageant, a toxic boy's club, etc). Of course she's not like that about everything all the time, but it's there. This new adoration of the world is a noticeable change and I love it

Title track and slow burn are best. I find myself agreeing with Boney—it’s not the most engaging songwriting there is but I just can’t stop listening and love the personality behind it

Slow burn is hands down the best song imo. And yeah agreed that the songwriting isn't crazy innovative, but her voice (literally and figuratively) is very strong

She sings about Silverados and cowboys so it's not actually as "conscious" as you'd think.

She also sings about drugs and mortality so I'll split the difference

She sings about her life and does it pretty well. Why not check out "Slow Burn" and find out for yourself?
