fair enough
mostly just regret taking digs at cyg cuz now i get it lol

"like if im going through some obscure dnb singles that 5 other people hve rated, if i genuinely think they fall into the "this is pleasant and prob above average for the genre but i dont see myself coming back to them though i might have 10 years ago" camp, then yea im gonna 2.5 idk"
well yeah so would i but i don't find this particularly relevant to what i'm trying to articulate here either

lul

>but i don't find this particularly relevant to what i'm trying to articulate here either
yea maybe you are right i dont pay that much attention to what people are doing unless something really catches my eye
i guess i thought maybe my situation is more common than i initially would have guessed
|

i think everyone goes through those phases. you can oversaturate your mind with music - or any media really - without it having to be an obscurity hunt. i'm sure neekafat has had months where generic indie-folk albums just aren't hitting the way they usually do

i actually dont feel burnt out per se, but im gravitating more and more towards music that is weird and different and often generally unappealing to most people, while not getting much out of most genre-convention-followers i used to like

"Digging: Government - Shitshitshit [japanese death poem]"
You're a man of your word at least...
I just flip between house/techno and black metal these days when one genre is overly saturated. And also a whole week of just pop bangers too
|

>You're a man of your word at least...
hey hey thats not that weird if you like amon tobin you should check it out fr
|

Believe it or not...

"because they have exhausted other musical avenues and are having a hard time getting sounds that trigger those dopamine receptors"
damn.
well im relatively new at this musical exploration thing so I'm hoping this is a ways off for meself
|

its inevitable sledd... and you either end up listening primarily to noise and free improv, or you end up like oltnabrick

Yeah I went through that once

burnt out or broken - so this is my fate?
I know the progression is happening because I'm well past the 'mind blown by every 10th album i listen to' stage lol. starting to get a better grasp of what it is I'm looking for in music or to appreciate certain qualities in a song

Bro just take a break, no one wants to end up like oltna. I sometimes just go 3 months listening to just whatever radio 1 throws at me and when I'm done with that, I don't need to jump into something that's different for different's sake
|
| |
>Bro just take a break
again its not like that... not fully anyway
|
| |
Yeah but what I mean is if you find yourself listening for listening's sake, then you might be on that path already
@ledd all I'll say is check some non guitar music
|
| |
>if you find yourself listening for listening's sake
im not, just relaly bored with a lot o the stuff i would have liked before, i find its too conventional and "yeah this sure is [genre]"
>all I'll say is check some non guitar music
hard [2] yea
