oof :[ Hope its a grower bc idk this album sounds so lush and pretty to me. I do understand finding it a bit formulaic though, as a lot of songs on here follow the same structure.

This thing is a trip. Maybe it's because I only discovered the band a week or two ago, but this is my preferred sound for them.

I kinda figured this would be a polarizing release, honestly I’m really enjoying it though despite some flaws. Thinking a solid 4 right now. Lake Fantasy is still the fucking best

I'm nearing the end of my first spin and it's good, but it lacks the diversity of Melting Sun. Most of the songs share the same mid-tempo spaciness, which I enjoy, but it feels rather homogenous as it goes on and repeats that angle
Still a solid 3.5 at least

That main riff crushes like something out of sludge/doom

I really enjoy the Vertigo, Bubble, Amber run. Lots of interesting sounds going on.

Wish Markus brought more harsh vocals like that section towards the middle of Amber.

I agree with the "hollow" sentiments. Nothing quite hits where its supposed to for me

Lake Fantasy (obvs), Cocoon Tree House, Amber and Dog in the Wild were the only ones with anything memorable for me lol. Planetarium had some cool parts

totally agree about the vocals @jesper. in melting sun they were more of a backdrop - here it's really vocally fronted and it doesn't work. he just can't carry it.
there's some interesting soundplay going on which i really enjoy, and the ones with the most interesting soundplay are the best tracks, but there are too many vocal-fronted formulaic pop metal tracks. that'd be fine if his vocals were up to task of carrying a song like that but they aren't. they're not awful or anything, but they're just really bland.

Like in the review I don’t think his vocal chops are that bad, especially after all this “OMG CLARKE SOUNDS LIKE INTERPOL GUY”
