"Everything is Fine!" is exactly what I want from this band. "Thanks Nobuo" is top-tier as well. This is definitely going to take a lot of listens before I have any idea what to rate it though, there's so much to digest here.

While I do enjoy Periphery's music, my favorite part of each album release cycle is actually watching sputnik reviewers lose their minds while the avg hovers around 3.7
like clockwork.

atropos has slightly grown on me, really dig the end of it. hearing it in context preceding wax wings it makes a bit more sense.
think the only track i'm not entirely sold on yet on is nobou... seems like they tried to pull another omega/stranger things 1-2 at the end and i'm not sure nobou holds up its side of the bargain. also don't really play video games so any extra meaning there is lost on me

scathing, yea this is lame

Always wanted to like this band but I just hate the vocals so much.

I have such a love/hate relationship with Mark's input in songs, like you can immediately tell when there's something he thought up. I dig his solos but I dislike his rhythm sections. Some have been memorable over the years but overall forgettable.

Mark writes some really intriguing riffs with a lot of color to them, but I'll admit I don't really have the ear to pick apart which of the guitarists wrote a given riff most of the time. However, I do know that Mark plays that absolutely bonkers solo toward the end of Reptile and I think it's the best in any Periphery song. Dude has killer phrasing

There's some great moments in Thanks Nobuo though idk what ya'll are on about

But with Mark, he has this intense fetish of incorporating slides into his riffs like, whenever possible, and it gets old imo. Best riff I've ever heard him come up with is the "longing for something beyond" part in Omega.

Mile Zero intro riff is Mark's best imo
