>[S]ometimes his music is an overstimulating headache, and sometimes it’s the greatest damn thing I’ve ever heard in my life.
This is pretty much how I feel about this album. I feel like he’s trying to carry 40 lbs. of stuff in a 5 lb. bag: he’s just forcing things. It’s my least-favorite Jacob Collier album, so far.
The guy has ideas, and I applaud him for executing them.
Can’t rate this yet.

I think vol. 3 is my least favorite, even though I still like it. Those vol. 3 songs also cook live. Alita Moses does 'In Too Deep' so well.

Checks out more than Coldplay, to be fair.
If Elon Musk was a positive person. Can't help but feel Musk is constantly trying to convince himself he's not miserable.

"WELLLL" gets so close to being a jam, but then again any band would write a jam with his budget and background.
Also to the people who praise him for his eclecticism: Pretty much any band featured in Japan's mainstream charts displays as much eclectic inspiration as Jacob does.

I think this album is a great example of having unlimited resources (time, money, talent) not translating into cohesive or impactful music. "Less is more" is like the only thing I can think about when listening to Jacob Collier. Though I can understand the people that are into this... kind of

God, I love this record. Blasting it almost every day.
Box of Stars pt. 2 going from rhythmic textiles of Cuban, Punjab, Moroccan, Brazilian and more in this sort of victory lap after the Vol. 1 callback... ugh give it to me. Gives me life.
Regarding eclecticism: I don't see it as a zero sum game. Is this album eclectic? Yes. Obviously whether that's to anyone's taste is up the individual. I like it.
