this cd ended up being a real hit and i am enjoying it alot. my favorite songs on the album are soldier side(intro), b.y.o.b, and radio/video.

the other s.o.a.d albums are also still pretty popular and this album just adds more and more to the collection of kick a** songs by s.o.a.d.

Even though the lyrics got repetitive its still a great album. No toxicity though.

hmmm after a long analaysis of this album I give it a 3. It is enjoyable and fun but there is nothing astonishing here. Makalin really needs to lay back. Only bad song on here was lost in hollywood. Good CD nothing groundbreaking.

I was incredibly disappointed with the new direction, but it is a good album by itself. I hope that hypnotize does not disappoint me as much. This Message Edited On 08.09.05

For the guys who says that they are dissapointed:

Mezmerize and Hypnotize is one cd. I think you should wait with the "ohh, this is not soad, not teh heavy riffs and screaming, d00de"
When you hear Hypnotize, you will understand everything.
Like Soldier Side, for example; Soldier Side is the intro for the last song on Hypnotize.
And they have saved the best for last. Hypnotize is said to be a lot more heavy, because Mezmerize is the "female" part, and Hypnotize is the "male" part.

Great review, man.

Tele Dude is right. I can't wait till' Hypnotize. When Clumpy gets back from the LDS Mission, he'll be happy that his review got this many comments.

Ok, To prelude, I am not a metal fan. I hate all Metal. My favorite three bands are unconditionally Green Day, Coldplay, and Nirvana. But when I took a chance on purchasing this album, simply for BYOB, I was lost in a world of holy crap what is this. I mean this record is so strange, not that I've heard other system albums. Lost In Hollywood is fantastic, BYOB is fantastic, Violent Pornography is great. I must say, though I'm not a great fan of Question!. There are often times i hear myself cracking up at the senseless words on in the cd (See: Don't eat thefish.) I love this album and it shot System of a Down right up to my 4th favorite band.

this album is just shy of perfect imo. definately my fave SOAD album. It is definately an improvement from "Steal..." I think the song that i like most is "Sad Statue". I fell in love with BYOB, which is why i bought the album as im sure a lot of other people did too. But as it turns out, BYOB is just a good song on a great album. There is so much more to this album than i expected. Definately on my top 5 of the moment. Top 10 all time.

5/5 for me. definately the closest to perfect ive seen a band of this stature reachThis Message Edited On 08.31.05

Clumpy, just like you I was hoping that the next single would be "Lost In Hollywood" as well. Turns out that we were both wrong and it was "Question!", which is still a good song, but "Lost In Hollywood" was the album's best moment.

Why has it taken me soooo long to aknowledge how f**king good this band is? I never really like them (I loathed them), but after a mate lent me this, i was intrigued (and pleasently surprised!) I then got my hands on their older stuff and I like that even more.

It's good to hear a band being original and doing something different, and rocking my socks off at the same time. It's just so energetic and so intense. SOAD are probably the only band that move me lyrically. And that's saying something. They're very powerful.

So another converted, eh?

It's strange, if you would have said to me a year ago that I'd like them, I would have told you to f**k off...This Message Edited On 09.04.05

You're completley right comparing SOAD to bands like Mr. Bungle and Zappa. This Cocaine... is my favorite song off the new album.
