sorry due but i am currently hating this album and probaly will be, my fave is waking the fallen. i perosnallly find the solos too classical-metal sounding i think that A7X previously were more kind of clever. thsi new album is too dated osudning for me. and i hate Mshaodws new voice, but im glad he didnt turn into a mute.

This album seems to be getting a lot of praise, I might check it out sooner or later. Good review.

There seem to be a disturbing number of people commenting on this review who cannot tell the difference between songwriting ability and instrumental skill.

I love this album I've heard some of their other stuff but don't know which album I should get. If someone would tell me which of their other two i should get it would be appreciated. Thanks!

In one of the other reviews I remember you saying you liked Waking the Fallen the best.

i would just like to completely disagree with everyone here. i personally think this album is horrible. well actually musically i love it, i saw them at warped and the drums were incredible. but the singing....wow....it makes me wanna kill myself . he had an incredible scream and i know he cant do it anymore but i think he needs to realize that hes not a singer. his clean vocals suck so bad, its unreal. also the lyrics are no good in my opinion. i like the fact that theyre different than like anything else, but i think its a bad different. waking the fallen was real good and sounding the 7th trumpet was incredible , but this album did not deserve to be called avenged sevenfold.

I've heard "Bat Country", and I really like it. Is it a good representaion of the album? Also, Waking the Fallen was good, but it got old fast.

good review. I loved this cd, just like all the other ones. But i still dont understand why anybody doesnt like "warmness on the soul". I loved that song, so different from everything else. Though i am a sucker for anything piano.

i understnad the praising of the originality of a7x but come on, from walkin the fallen to city of evil, something is missing. It is not as epic in its melody as waking the fallen.
And while the tracks that are good are freaking brilliant, beast and the harlot sounds like a circus song.
Only the first half of the album is great and considering beast and the harlot is in the first half, its not, godly.

thanks for agreeing with me FoundDeadHanging, warmness on the soul deserves much more appreciation and recognition than it gets. And besides, who couldnt love that solo in it, its awesome.

i like avenged sevenfold, but i think that the review was way too generous. "metal gods"? give me a break. these guys are pretty good, but come on. gates is not a guitar hero. this band is not revolutionary.

I've just heard bat country and would like to know if it's a good representation of the album cos i think it's an amazing song with a jaw dropping solo. That said however metal gods give me a break and gates while a pretty good guitarist not a patch on slash or tom morello the TRUE guitar legends of this decade-but then again that's a different genreThis Message Edited On 09.22.05

That's good because this is neither satanic or metalcore.
