Definately his masterpice. Definately a good track by track review. But "Where Is Everybody?" is one of my faves on the album actually. It's a very personal, revealing song if you probe them lyrics. I could quote it from memory, but you should just go listen to it again. Maybe a little poppy, but I don't give a hell, it's still a strong track. He can't find anuyone because, as detailed on the first half of the album, his bitch of a girl dumped him, and now he's trying to find where his place would have been and will be now that she's gone, but no one is to be found because he himself has been gone so long. Hear the lonliness in the last quiet minute.

Yeah, its a bloody good album. I listened to the second CD while going to sleep, I agree Where is everyone? is a very good song. It reminds me a lot of Everyday is exactly the same from With Teeth, which is one of my fav. songs. La Mer is an excellent instrumental as well. Its so peaceful and seems like it only goes for about a minute but actually goes for near 5. I love it.

This is my all-time favorite album. Sure it has its flaws, but the amazing high points make up for it. Simply put, The Fragile contains the most beautiful music I've ever heard. If you stop comparing it to Downward Spiral and accept it for what it is, the sheer emotional power of this album is simply awe-inspiring. It conveys the maddening feeling of obsessively trying to find nonexistant answers while slowly going out of your mind. It's not as dark as Downward Spiral on the surface, but the undertones here are far more unstable.
Unfortunately disc two is not very good overall... although its first two tracks are exceptional.

I've always thought, 'The heavier, the better.' But I find myself listening to the Fragile more than his other albums. I know Trent Reznor got alot of criticism for this album, but it's by far my favourite from all I've heard of him. Right now I keep listening to Just Like You Imagined. NIN's always had powerful lyrics, but I love a song that says so much without vocals.

good review. The Fragile is another gem by Reznor, it's less consistent and more experimental than The Downward Spiral, and I would say I love it just as much. In other words, it's a masterpiece.

I can't make up what is my favourite NIN album its between the left disc of The Fragile or Downward Spiral.

But suppose they are just two masterpieces.

brilliant review, but why would you ever wish for trent reznor to do solely instrumental music? his voice is amazing. listen the chorus of "we're in this together." gives me the chills every time.

This is definately up there in my top 5.
Should've given We're in this together now a 5/5 though. One of the best songs I've ever heard in terms of atmosphere and overall sound.
Good review.

The Fragile is a really, really good album. Nice review; but Where Is Everybody? and Into The Void are actually really deep lyrically.

Don't start with this album though; start with Pretty Hate Machine or With Teeth. This Message Edited On 06.03.07

good review, but i dont like TBT's on double albums, good for people wanting to download seperate songs but not as a standalone, but still well written.

This is definitely under Industrial. On this site, though, Industrial is a sub-genre of metal.
So, that's probably where you got confused.

NIN is hardly industrial. Pretty hate machine was the closest thing they've ever done to industrial. Since then they've moved further and further away from that label.
