Well it's a Ross Tomlin review so it'll be amazing naturally.

You managed to get your hands on the new Wombats yet?

Haha.

Nah, not as yet. I think they pushed the release date back 2 weeks.

Def. agree with your top 2 songs, Davey, but I think you give "Come Back" too much credit; the middle section is just dull and adds filler to an album which needs absolutely none of it.

That being said, I don't think you give "Halo" nearly enough credit; I've always enjoyed that one, especially the chorus. It rounds out the top 3 from this album, IMO.

My personal ranking:

All My Life > Times like These > Halo > Low = Have It All > Tired of You > Disenchanted Lullaby > Lonely as You > Overdrive > Come Back > Burn Away

All My Life, Times like These, and Halo - 4/5

Low, Have It All, and Tired of You - 3.5/5

Disenchanted Lullaby, Lonely as You, and Overdrive - 3/5

Come Back - 2.5/5

Burn Away - 2/5

So basically this is a high-end 3 for me - possibly a low-end 3.5.

And did you get your hand on Wasting Light yet? It's their best one yet, IMO; yes, that means it's better than TCATS.

I don't exactly rave on about 'Come Back'. 'Halo' is ok, but really should have been a lot of better. This album still, to this day, frustrates me. I think it frustrates the band too.

I've given 'Wasting Light' one listen. I like it, but I can already tell I won't like it as much as 'TC&TS'.

"All My Life, Times like These, and Halo - 4/5
Low, Have It All, and Tired of You - 3.5/5
Disenchanted Lullaby, Lonely as You, and Overdrive - 3/5

Burn Away - 2/5"

This, although I really like Overdrive, I'd swap that and Tired of You.

Those ratings give this album way too much credit.

You could probably disregard the other ones apart from my top 3, I'm fairly indifferent to them, those ratings are just relative I guess. Nothing'll ever top Everlong anyway!

Probably not. But it's not the highlights which are the issue on this album. It's the rest.

How this won the Grammy for Best Rock Album is bewildering.

I gave up on the Grammys a while back... & the Oscars.

I think "Falling Slowly" deserved the best original song Oscar a few years back.

I think Tom hanks won an Oscar for one of his least impressive performances.

But I digress... The Fooeys newie is really starting to grow on me.

I actually completely agree with the hype for once, I think it's almost as good as TCOTS.
