I really like this album. SoaD had a big influence on me to really get into my music and try out new genres. One of the better nu-metal bands.

i think shimmy is 5/5 and toxicity too.....they have really a great way to sing,makin different notes between guitarist and the singer...you can hear that well on aerials!!
however nice rewiew...

I have this cd. Thier best cd imo. thread starter got most of it right. but bounce is a fun song to play live, just listen to it... anywho... PEACE

I saw a guy say hypnotise for their next cd, its a double disk hypnotize/ mesmerize, they wont be release a the same time, and you can here their good but repetetive song called CIGARO but you all must know this by now.
Just wanted to say that the self titled album is by far better then this on. Aerials didn't exite me as much as it did to most of their public.
System of a down is still a great band.
about the review: the reviewer metionned Mike Patton but didn't seem to know who it was, thats deciving.
And one other thing: Arabian Melodies

What? SOAD frequently shifts time sigs. Not to mention that he was probably referring to the stop and start thing.. By which I mean, the tendency to slow down for breakdowns/choruses. Or speed up. They do alternate speeds fairly often, and they occasionally play in 3/4 time, i believe.
and man... If you don't like SOAD, that's fine, but they are completely and wholly original. Name one band that sounds ANYTHING like SOAD (that was around before SOAD's self titled release). Good luck, pal.

With the exception of "X," the album is really awesome. I think it is THE best SOAD album.....I don't really like the politically fueled stuff, but I actually liked "Prison Song" and "Deer Dance." A little weird, I know.

Daron's riffs as a whole are hardly creative. He does manage to make some cool ones but it seems like whenever is is trying to be heavy he just makes them like this:
