I'll be honest Win, I didn't read it all. But it's fucking La Dispute, which you gave a 5. So I'll take your word for it. Pos'd.

the review was a very good read and i see what you were going for. it was a bit ambitious at parts but an excellent first review nonetheless.

Ladies and gentlemen, you have just read a five-act Shakespearean play.
No.

ambitious, and I love you for trying it.

Pretty sure what win is getting at is the Lyrics from the first 5 songs are what he peppered into the
review, with the same rhythm and time changes as well. It's very clever man. Just insanely meaty.
just look at the way he used his commas. and take the fact that he basically begged you guys to listen
to the CD and read the review. It does actually make sense when you do so :P
but hell I'm probs off.

The review isn't insanely meaty, it's insanely fanboyish. He can compose a sentence well enough, but the constant romanticised tone is ridiculous, as is the comparison to Shakespeare. People's enjoyment of Shakespeare is obviously subjective, but there's a reason his work has remained in the forefront of culture for centuries. A record which makes use of tired rhetoric doesn't even come close.

Yeah I'm not gonna neg it but I didn't like this review at all. It's self absorbed to the point of silliness.
|

i couldn't fathom the patience to sit through ninety minutes of the same bullshit just to write a review.
This is my complaint with this album basically.

'Tis a fault to Heaven,
A fault against the dead, a fault to nature,
To reason most absurd.'
- William Shakespeare.
I thought I heard the door open, oh no,
I thought I heard the door open but
I only heard it close.
- La Dispute.
'Review sucks my balls.'

Lol it's not a review. Seriously. At least not right now. You know how Dreyer uses as 'my fear' as a
metaphor for the princess in Damaged goods? What do you think I really mean by 'elite'?
Pretentious or not, there's a stunning amount of depth.
And Phleb, repetition is a literary technique whether you like it or not. And believe me, I'm not
trying to make anyone enjoy this album. If it's not your jam; cool. Doesn't hurt me, lol.

Yeah, people make that comparison quite often. But beneath the enjoyability of this album, there's really a surprising amount of depth of thought. I may over-analyze everything, but I'm seriously very impressed at La Dispute's musicianship.

Winnie.
did you like see you in vancouver?
|
| |
Album Rating: 5.0
Vancouver is probably my least favorite release of theirs, but yeah, I still really liked almost all
of it.
See You In Vancouver specifically really kind of reminds me of when I tried to get into CTTS at times.
Lyrically, Somewhere.., is still by far my favorite. Although the Here, Hear. series was really cool.
And the Untitled 7"-gaaah don't make me choose, haha.
